would like to know 2000 cougar

i have a 2000 cougar 2.5 v6 5 speed. i have disk and drum brakes i was woundering how hard it would be to replace the drun brakes to disk any help i would like.i have heard something about the water pump going bad if you dont change would like to know if true. Also wondering if anyone has boosted up the engine and what you have done to do so.

You will need the rear disc brakes off an SVT Contour. It shouldn't be too hard, most everything should bolt up if you can get the parts.

Other than bolt ons there's not a lot you can do to the engine. You can swap the top end to the one out of the SVT Contour but the parts are somewhat hard to find, or you can swap in the 3.0 Duratec from a Taurus. The engines are cheap and plentiful but the swap is somewhat difficult.

Any rear discs from a Contour/Cougar will work. Even the SVT Focus rear brakes that are larger than the SVT Contour discs can be made to fit with modification, but I'm sure your looking for something quick and easy.

And SVT parts, especially the intake manifolds are becoming more plentiful these days. More are more people are swapping in full 3.0Ls and ditching the SVT intake system all together. I guarantee you can find one for sale on the contour.org classifieds.
