99 blazer 4x4 help

I have a 99 blazer that has a problem. The selector switch has no lights on, the 2hi, 4hi or 4lo button. When you push a button nothing happens. Its in 2 hi. Just cant seem to get it out of 2hi. All the fuses are good, checked the vacuum actuator, it has no vacuum. I put vacuum to it and it engages. Pleas help.

What transfer case?
Auto or reg?
Does the button lights come on for key on bulb check?
On fuses did you check both side for 12 volts?

The transfer case is an 233.
All the fuses test 12vdc on both sides.
Automatic tranny.
The switch lights come on as soon as you turn the key to on for n split second then go off.

Re: 99 blazer 4x4 help

Do they all go back off or does one stay on to indicate what gear it is in?
when you try to shift to 4WH or 4WLow does the button light blink for a while and then go out or fail to blink or try to shift?
And does the 2W light stay on and remain in 2W with 2W light on or off?
Can you hear the transfer case motor try to shift?
Have you checked all wiring and wiring plugins on it?

You can pull transfer case codes by grounding pin 13 on the diagnostic connector and turning key on.

Then count the shift light button blinks.
Post back codes or blinks.

Re: 99 blazer 4x4 help

All three lights come on for a split second (2hi-4hi-4lo) then all three go out NONE stay on indicating what drive im in. Nothing happens when you hit any of the three buttons. No noise from transfer case while hitting these buttons. Nothing in park or neutral. All wires are hooked up and tightly secured together.
As for the codes go, well I have an automatic 1999 which is equipped with the OBD2 system. From what im told from other ASE certified mechanics is you need a scanner from 1994 and on. So I tried it anyways. And what do you know? NOTHING. No shift light blinked because I don’t have a shift light in an automatic. No other lights blinked as well. When I have someone scan it I might post back with the codes if we don’t figure them out first… Thanks for all the hard work you put in helping me…..

There is two different transfer cases.
On that transfer codes can be pulled by grounding pin 13.

A lot of scanners will not read much on it.
A One year online one car all dat sub would help you.

It Has a repair flow chat for the no indicater light on to show what gear it is in.

Did you ground pin 13 and check for codes?

Get the all data sub and go threw the repair flow charts.
Good luck

Re: 99 blazer 4x4 help

Yes I grounded pin 13 and nothing blinked. Nothing happened when I turned on the key. All the lights, bells and whistles that normally come on when you turn the key came on. Other then that i guess im stuck.
