Heater core install

what do i need to do to install a heater core on 94 camaro..i beleive thats the problem after almost dying from antifreeze inhalation on the way home from my hour drive. no leaks on the ground. fine mist on the windows, i beleive its the culprit.

edit: its a v6

edit: or how can i bypass the heater core if the job is super tough

Re: Heater core install

You could bypass it for the time being if you don't need it. Not sure how much is entailed on a 4th gen, but I would imagine it's much the same that most of the dash has to come out. Look it up on Autozone's site, they have the repair manuals on-line, so you suck for not being resourceful on your own.

Re: Heater core install

if its anything lik a 96 the entire dash doesnt need to come out, just take the glove box out and you can get right to the plastic air box that surrounds the heater core. Took me only 45 mins to an hour to do mine in a 96 rs. You could also use a 5/8 nipple and splice the two heater hoses together in the engine bay totally bypassing the leaking heater core.

Re: Heater core install

4th gens are 1 million times easier than a 3rd gen, remove glove box, remove the plastic access panel, un-do connections on heater cor, and it comes out

Re: Heater core install

nice to know that it's not that bad of a job.......i've had to flush crap out of my sons 94 2 times now from the crappy lifetime antifreeze......it's only a matter of time till i'm gonna have to rip it out.

I don't know what instructions you used for a 3rd gen but I've changed 4 of them and they take 2 hours MAX. No need to pull the dash. Just drop the passenger kick panel & ECM. Then is is like 8-10 little 9/32 screws to remove the plenum box cover and 4 more to get the core out.
