92 Cruise Control

Yet another question.

The cruise control on my 92 doesn't work. I turn on the switch on the stalk, press the button on the end to set it and the green light on the dash illuminates but the car doesn't hold speed.

Anything I should look for or just let it go and not use it?

Re: 92 Cruise Control

I had a similar problem with my Chevy pickup and after replacing the whole cruise control servo I eventually found that a wire had broken on the harness that went from the cruise stalk to its connector under the dash. If you end up having to replace the stalk on a 92 Regal it will cost you, as the stalk was broken on the 92 I just bought and the replacement part was ranging between $70 and $140. In case you need it, the stalk's AC Delco part number is 25111138. Check your wiring before you replace parts. I would also check the connection between the servo under the hood and the cable going to the throttle, as I noted that mine was not connected. Either the clip had broken and fallen off, or the prior owner had removed it since the stalk was damaged and he didn't want the cruise setting itself incidentally. Good luck.

Re: 92 Cruise Control

Where is that servo located? Seems the stalk is ok since it recognizes that the switch was turned on and the button was pressed so I wonder if the issue is at the other end. I'll take a look at the server, it may be bad or unhooked.

Re: 92 Cruise Control

Servo is located under hood on the drivers side top towards the firewall if i remember right. It is still possible that you have a bad signal wire to the servo.

Very true, will be sure to check the wire too.
