this is very possible...the front speakers are of poor quality...the speaker coil opens ,then you only have the tweets....
with an ohm meter measure the resistance, if open replace with a high quality 4-6ohm speaker and use the connector in the defective speaker to make connections ...you may need soldering iron...
been there done that ..
