Re: Grand Prix custom sub box

can't say I have ever heard of them. If the box is the right volume for you sub then it might be better tan something you can make yourself

Re: Grand Prix custom sub box

oh, ok! so i should find a sub recommended for this box's volume?

does it list this spec on the sub?

Thanks for the help again Paul! I'm so stupid when it comes to this stuff.

(BTW, I sold that broken pioneer deck on obe for 40 bucks) I was sad to see it go being such a great deck, but it was going to cost more than a new one to repair.

Re: Grand Prix custom sub box

it says .91 ft^3 per enclosure. Any good sub should have the recommended sealed box size or a range of sizes.

Re: Grand Prix custom sub box

Thanks!

Would you recommend 10" or 12" subs? I just want a little bump and lower lows.

I know i'm opening up a can of worms here, but what brand amp and subs would you guys recommend? I dont want to upgrade my charging system, and I'm not going to do dynamat or anything like that.

Just looking for good amp/sub combo's. Thanks!

Re: Grand Prix custom sub box

Well the site says that box has 12inch holes so you're stuck with 12 inch subs. As far as brands go... everyone has their preferences. Depends on what price range really...

Re: Grand Prix custom sub box

personally I like 2 12's or 1 15. Try and find subs that don't need 10 billion watts, then use a class D amp. A 1000 watt class D shouldn't kill the electrical system too bad. Get two subs such that the total load = 1 ohm (2 dual voice coil 4 ohm subs would work).

No the site says they will cut 2 10's, 2 12's, or 1 10, or 1 12.

For price total for 2 subs and an amp say 500 topps. (I know I'm a cheap skate when it comes to car audio) I'm not looking to win competitions.

Good pointers. Your saying to get two subs, each with 2 voice coils, and each voice coil has a resistance of 4 ohms? The wire in parallel to achieve 1 ohm? I just need to make sure that the amp I buy is stable down to 1 ohm then, right?

Re: Grand Prix custom sub box

yea, most class D amps are 1 ohm stable. You should be able to get 2 12's and an amp for appx $500. Don't foget the wiring, you will need at least 15 ft of maybe 2 Ga power wire plus a fuse block and a splitter for the mid/highs if you are gonna use a seperate amp for them.
