AC compressor noise

compressor making little growling noise when engaged. low on oil or freon? or compressor on the way out? thanks, joe

It is important that you make your post as specific as possible. Please include the year of the vehicle, model, engine size, transmission type, mileage and any other information that may be helpful in trying to diagnose the problem. oops sorry, thought that it wasnt that important on this issue due to all cars having a compressor. it 1997 lesabre 130,000. thanks joe

check the pressures first then remove the belt and check the pulley bearing...it is possible and common of a problem..check belt and idler...

I have seen low refrigerent, low oil, belts, pulleys,and bearings cause nosies..

growling noise is usually the compressor pulley bearing..
