McLaren Mp4/5b
Hey guys
To forget the xanavi disaster, started a new build... Shame on tamiya for not adding tyre and rim decals, it's the re-release of the McLaren mp4-5b... Searched my spare decal box et voila... We have tyre and rim decals The pixs: Looks like in the last picture there is something wrong, but thats because it isn't glued yet Enjoy, jurgen |

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b
I like this version even more than MP4/4 good luck with the build. Nice start already. But is that true that tamyia does'nt provide tire decals or it was just your box?

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b
I bet Tamiya has drawn the line on licensing for names and has decided they can do without Goodyear.[/quote]
Hit the nail on the head. There was (allegedly) a big problem for Tamiya licensing the Goodyear logo for 2008. |

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b
Update time!
Tryd something new, the air intakes from the brakes are done... airbrushed them with a silver-gold mixture. With the help of a spare mesh, airbrushed black thru it and voila... Fake carbon maybe i'll redo them because i think the gold is to much... What do you guys think? They'll still have to be cleared.Tyre and rims done. Added some handpainted details Didnt find any decent material to make rim valves so i left them off... Greetz |

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b
The fake carbon looks really good. As you said it still needs the clear
![]() And for the wheels.. I really like it but I think you should dull-coat them.. they are abit to shiny.. and I don´t wanna be picky but all the arrows are facing the same direction ![]() Keep it up ! // Rickard |

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b
I like the carbon idea. I am going to try it on a touring car i'm working on right now. Curious to see it clearcoated too!
Keep up the great work!

Re: McLaren Mp4/5b
smaller than small update...
Started the body... believe it or not, it's the first time i've used putty on a tamiya body its the light curing stuff... Will sand it tomorrow.Tyres re-done. Arrows point the right way now Didn't have flat clear so sprayed semi gloss and toned the white from the goodyear decals down with pencil dust... Think it looks ok.Btw air intakes swim in the Mr.Muscle, gonna retry the airbrush carbon Greetz |

My 1/20 MP4/4 (black box too) also doesn't come with the dry transfers for the tyres. And I believe some sponsors' decals might not be included as well (though I'm not sure about that). Need to buy some aftermarket decals. |
