Tamiya Ferrari F40 Monteshell

Hi Everyone, i finally downloaded some pictures off my camera and found these pics of my completed Monteshell F40. Mostly OOB with the supplied Photoetched parts & i added some Carbon Fibre & wires. I weathered the model to give it a raced look, i really like the way it came out. After finishing this model & a recent trip to Maranello Im more motivated to build the Ferraris in my small stash of kits, next FXX & maybe ill finish my Challenge Stradale. Anyway the pics, let me know what you think

Ash

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40 Monteshell

I built one of these a couple of years ago and had the same problem you appear to have with the back, it just won't close fully.

Yeh i've noticed that too, you try test fitting parts in the future before painting as it will help sometimes in hours of frustration and dissapointment. I do it all the time and later in the build bang my head against the wall.

Nice paint job, and good details. Weathering looks good, but you should weather the sides as they look too clean to go with the rest of the car. Congrats on a nice model, and as far as the hatch display it open, noone will never know!

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40 Monteshell

Thanks for all the comments guys,
Midmazar & DazAtkinson, I spent about 4 hours test fitting and sanding and massaging the hatch to get it to sit right before I painted the whole thing, and then after painting it was still not right, I'd hate to image how bad it would be if I didnt. I had someone give me advice on another forum, that if you cut the Tabs off that align the body to the chassis the hatch will sit properly, something I will do when I build another.

Thanks again
Ash
