ac / heater blower problems
I have a 97 escort with a blower problem. Every once in a while, the AC or heater stops blowing. You can feel the warm or cold air coming out of the vents, but not blowing. Then, when it seems that it's broken, it starts blowing again. Is this a relay problem or short somewhere? If it's a relay can you guide me in the right direction to locate it and replace.
Thanks, Mike |

Re: ac / heater blower problems
Go to the blower motor on the underside of pasenger dash and locate the wire going into the motor. The wire connector on the motor gets hot over time and you get a bad connection.

Re: ac / heater blower problems
Does it matter what speed the fan is set on? The fan motor speed resistor may be having problems or maybe the motor brushes are worn or the motor shaft is sticking? Will tapping on the motor housing get it to turn?

Re: ac / heater blower problems
sometime someone with boots or big feet in the passenger seat can kick their toe into the wires for the blower. on my car that wire is a weak connection. when it happens i just wiggle the wire and the blower starts working again. or just driving along and hit a bump and it starts working again. also i find that when i start the car i need to have the blower off or on a low speed. if i start with it on high it will act like it blew a fuse.
