Another '02 Grand Prix Heat Question

Hello,
My Daughter has an '02 GP. When she starts car to warm it up since the cold days have hit us, it appears that the heat does not work. However, if she gets in the car and drives it, it warms up. A couple of things have crossed my mind about this, one being a stuck-open thermostat, and the other, a bad vacuum operated hot water valve. The latter I am not sure of because I do not know what type of control valve they use on that car. Anyone have any ideas on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and many thanks in advance.

Re: Another '02 Grand Prix Heat Question

It would help to post what engine or GP model.

What does the temperature gauge at the IP indicate after proper engine warmup?

As far as a hot water valve there is none at the input of the heater core. It is constant flow of coolant through the heater core. How do the heater hoses at the firewall for the heater core feel?
