Lumina Just Died

hello, i have a 92 lumina 3.1 car. i just bought the car and knew it needed some work. i got it running new starter and battery. and today i was letting it run because it still had old gas in it and noticed the injectors were ticking kinda loud but i heard this was normal for this motor. i ran some injector cleaner in the tank and was letting it run for a while and i went inside came back out and it was shut off. i cant get it to start now it just cranks. i do not think i have an injector pulse. what should i do now?

Re: Lumina Just Died

Wish I could help more but one thing I know is you need fuel, spark and compression. There's a valve on the fuel rail that you could push in to see if there is fuel there. When you turn the key on you should here the fuel pump. To check for spark you could pull out a plug and then reconnect the plug wire and ground the plug and get your wife to turn over the engine while you watch for a spark. As for compression if the timing chain jumped you would loose it. I'd have to find a manual to figure out the easiest way to check that. I'm no mechanic but this forum is a bit slow so this is just a few things you could start with. Good luck.

Welcome to AF, how do you know what you have or don't have, check for spark, check for fuel pressure, see if it starts spraying starting fluid into the intake, how else would you go about diagnosing the problem?
