Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren

Today I'll start with the report of my SLR.

here to list all the parts again:

I startet to cut out all parts and cleaning them.
After that, i sorted them in colours to brush.

Here are almost all finished parts painted, some require a second color.

The Interieur will be red

First i brushed all red parts with Tamiya flat red.

The Footer (dont know if its the right word) was flocked by red Viskose Flocks.

Parts like the doors, seats andy the rear shelf have received flat black for the contrast.

Here is a small sample pass:

The Rims i tryed to brush like "black chrome"
Therefore i grounded them with gloss black, and then with a very very very thin layer of "Alclad chrome".

to be continued...

Andy

Re: Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren

It continues ...

Today i painted the last Parts of the Interior - the dashboard.

Furthermore, i primed the body half an hour before, and tested fit and look of all buddyparts.

... Yes they are dry!

I'm always surprised himself. The Primer from Zero Paints drys very fast, so you can continue the work very quickly.
And under a 500watt Spotlight by 35°C it drys even faster

to be continued...

Re: Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren

Yesterday i tryed the "shoes"

I think the dark rims provide a great contrast to the light body or what do you think?

An other little update...

The interior was finished too...

to be continued...

Re: Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren

Today i sandet the narks on the buddy, and i primed it a second time.

After this i started to work at the Engine-part.

At other building reports you can see, that the paint job at this part is not easy.
The engine should painted in aluminium and the rest in semi-gloss black.

A friend has choosen the opinion to cut the engine and paint it seperatly.

I decidet to brush the engine in aluminium, then to tape this, and brush the rest in semi-gloss black.

at some places the paint is not perfect, but there i will correct with a paintbrush.

to be contiuned...

Re: Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren

Today i put in the motorparts, just test the fit without glueing.

The exhaust pipes are connected at the moment only, and not fixed yet.
Here I will wait until the body parts are completely tuned in order to properly align them.

to be contiued...
