Which ABS sensor causing problems?

Hello,

My 2001 Buick Regal LS is having ABS problems.

The ABS system keeps comming on at low speeds and when hitting bumps.

For example, when i am parking and push lightly on the brake i can hear and feel the ABS comming on.

Every now and again the ABS warning light comes on the dashboard too, but goes away when i switch off and start up again.

Anyone know how i can determine which wheel sensor is casuing the problem?

Also, is it normal for the "service vehicle soon" and "Trac Off" light come on when the ABS warning light comes on??

The indication is normal for the SVS and TRAC OFF light along with the ABS light.

It needs to be scanned with an ABS capable scanner/scan tool which will pinpoint which wheel sensor is acting up and see if there are other issues like wiring, connectors or the EBTCM module.

It has to be one of the front bearings.
Probably best to change all four wheels.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to the replies.

Took it to my mechanic in the end. He seems to think its the front right bearing too.

Since it only happens every now and again he recommends waiting until its constant. He assures me its safe???

Thinks it is the right bearing? Doesn't he have an ABS scan tool? Was the wiring/electrical connector to the hub checked? Regardless the best thing to do is replace the hubs in pairs. Replace both front.

It should be safe since conventional braking will be OK but I would not wait that long since ABS and traction control comes in handy in slippery road conditions. When the ABS light comes on it will only affect ABS braking part.

just change both.

No sense to do just one.

He (mehanic) said unless it is happening at that time he is unable to scan the problem.

He let me drive his Denali, which did exactly the same, ABS comming on at low parking speeds.

So should i ask him to replace the hubs or bearings??

Whats annoying is it happens every now and again, for example, i have gone nearly 2 weeks without the light comming on.

Anyway, if its a case of doing it sooner or later, then i might as well get it done now.
