AutoX pics and videos

Went to my first autoX this past weekend. Had to drive 2.5 hours to get there but it was so worth it. It was a really small turn out, only about 45 people entered so I got 6 runs + fun runs. The car did much better than expected. Turned the boost down to about 15psi to try and keep wheel spin down. My first run was about a 46 sec or so. And my best of the day ended up being 41.995s. So a great improvement as the day progressed. I ended up racing agaist 2 evos and an STI. They were on R compound tires and were pulling about 38.8s or so. So I wasn't to far behind.

There was also an AWD talon, it was mostly stock except for the R compounds he was running and suspention. He broke into the 38s with those tires but went back to street tires after lunch and was only running 40.5s or so. During the fun runs I let him drive my car a few times and he got it down to a 40.6s run I believe. So the car has more potential than what I did with it. And it was running right with his AWD talon on street tires. I deffinately need to invest in an LSD in the near future. It would make a huge difference.

So overall the car got 10 runs in. It killed my tires pretty bad. I probably lost about 1/3 of the thread that was on them. But other than that the car ran great. Here are a few of the pics I took. Uploading the videos now so they will be up later today.

Very nice. Small track or is it just me? I love that gray Evo. Video looks good too. Aren't those tires brand new?

You say the video on facebook? Yea they were brand new in August. The track was pretty small but was 2 laps so it wasn't that bad. It didn't really give the car much of a chance to get some speed. But then again thats the point of AutoX. Handling is more important than anything.

Going to move the battery to the back also to try and get some of that weight out the front.

Isn't that going to cause more wheel spin in both X and drag?

Moving the weight to the back may make me loose a little bit of traction but the weight is so small compared to everything else it wont even be noticeable. It will help with handling which is what Im going for and also to take some of the clutter out of the engine bay.

True. I've been thinking about doing that for a while now actually. Just never felt like running the wires for it though.

they usually give out trophys but there was not enough entrys so they gave out discounts to the another autox. The guy with the talon ended up winning $5 off and gave it to me. He was from up north somewhere and wouldn't be coming to another one anytime soon.

Ok guys so I looked up the score from the autoX and in the street mod class I came in 3rd out of 5 cars. The silver EVO and STI beat me. I beat the grey EVO and a yellow turbo sentra. Not to bad for my first time. Videos are uploading.

Very nice. Is it possible to drift in AutoX or do they tell you no? I'd get some decent drift tires and be sliding through those turns if I was RWD/AWD.

Drifting is frowned upon in AutoX. Some people get a little sideways but not on purpose. If it gets excessive they will tell you to stop. Also its slower to drift around courners.

Thing with sliding is that it might look cool and be a lot of fun, but its not as fast as a car that can grip. If your drive wheels are spinning they arent propelling your car forward as fast as they could be.

Nice job, good driving. I was going to take my car to an Auto x event for my motorsports class back in highschool. I would still like to try it, but not with my car...no PS.

I think that evo could have been alot faster if he would have driven it a little more aggressivly.
