Can you identify this radio?

Wondering if anyone can tell me what car this might have come from. I posted in Car Audio but thinking that might not be the best spot as I've only had one reply and it doesn't appear to be correct. Trying this forum instead...

Sorry, big file...

Re: Can you identify this radio?

I am pretty sure this is an aftermarket radio, for sale to people who's car never came with one. It was most likely not original equipment in any one brand of car.

I think it's 1950's era. Back then, radios were a pretty big deal and fairly expensive in a new car, so a substantial number of cars never came with one from the manufacturer.

Motorola was one of the foremost makers of aftermarket radios back then.

Original-equipment radios placed in cars by the car maker would NEVER have had "Motorola" or any other maker's name on them. If they had any brand name on them it was ALWAYS the car's brand (Ford, Chevrolet etc.) or a division of the maker, like AC-Delco.

Thanks MagicRat. That's very interesting and something I didn't know.
