Wiring mess

Hello everybody. My name is Dan aka carguy87. I have a 1987 camaro that I bought about a year ago. It already had a carb. 350 in it and no computer or A/C. We have stripped those wires out. I added some performance parts which you can see in my signature. Anyway, last weekend we decided to take the dash off and remove the rest of the wires we don't need. At the end of the day, we turned the ignition and nothing. We killed the car. So we decided to just rewire the entire car. My buddy (Mitchell) and I have never done a project this big before. So today (Nov. 2) we wired all the headlights and taillights. What my question is is about the reverse lights. There is two wires coming out of the bottom of the shifter. A yellow and a purple. What do these go to? Also what do I wire the reverse lights into? Ok, there is another question. The starter has 3 wires coming out of it. What do these wires go to. One of the wires went to the steering column. And the other two, I couldn't trace them. I appreciate your help.
-Dan

Re: Wiring mess

I have already picked up one of those, but it is labeled for the stock engine which is I believe a Tuned port injected engine. My engine was from a different car (it was swapped before I bought the car). Also the diagram is labeled to go to the computer and control modules. Which I don't have since the previous owner has already removed this. And yes I have ran the car before and even took it to the strip a few times.
Thanks-Dan

Re: Wiring mess

well use the diagram of an older camaro that is on that book also and make the wiring as it was an 84 or 85 when the car is not stock and you dont know where the parts came from you can be creative

Re: Wiring mess

Since someone else bastardized your wiring I doubt anyone other than the "bastard" will be able to tell you what wires went where to make it run.
I can tell you that the wires from the switch on the shifter are probably what prevented the car from starting. That switch is more than for the reverse lights, it is also the interlock that prevents the starter from engaging when the car is in gear (automatic trans).
