95 Villager will not start!!! our only vehicle

I have a 95 villager. The problem starrted by simply not starting unless it wanted to. I have replaced everything I can think of. Battery NEW, Plugs, Wires, Starter Relay or Inhibitor switch. Had the starter checked at a shop it is good. The simptom is when you turn the ignition key all lights come on and you can hear the fuel pump. But when you push forward to engage starter you get nothing. I have started the engine by toutching the starter coil wire directly to the batery but will not continue to run. It dies emediatly when I remove the wire. If I keep the wire hooked to the battery it acts as if the starter is overspinning the engine and dies anyway. I have no Idea where to go from here. Mabe the transmition position sensor I simply dont know. Any advice would help.

I don't understand what you mean by starter coil wire.

WIth the vehicle raised and supported by jack stands tap on the starter as someone try's starting the engine with the igniton switch. Starters can and have checked to be good but still are faulty.

Try resetting the inersa switch located on the left side by the hood release handle, inside the protective cover by your feet. Push the little red button to reset and see if that helps.

Go to the thread either 1 or 2 down from yours and check out the link for the factory service manual, that may help you also. ( 02 sensor location thread)

Do you have 12 volts at the starter with the ignition switch in the start position? IF yes bad starter if not check cables and ignition switch. You may also want to check the transmission Range sensor wires and conncector to make sure they are not broken or loose connection.
