94, Ram, 5.2 Water pump-224,759mi
Hey guys and gals,
How do I break the nut lose at the water pump for the fan clutch. If I try to hit it with a cresent, it just slips in the belt. I have checked with the new pump to make sure I am trying to impact it in the right direction. What else should I be aware of for this pump replacement... Thanks guys for your input. Jason |

Re: 94, Ram, 5.2 Water pump-224,759mi
PITA to get off. You want a pipe on the end of the wrench and a long large square shaft screw driver or pry bar. Take the pry bar for instance and put it between two of the pulley bolts to keep the pulley from turning. Or go to the auto parts store and buy a fan clutch removal tool. And depending on where you bought the pump you might be able to rent the tool for free.

Re: 94, Ram, 5.2 Water pump-224,759mi
thanks for your help for who replied. liquid wrench and "hit it harder" got the nut to bust lose. I had the fan clutch kit, but none of it was applicable for this dodge. smooth pulley, no bolts. I got it.
thanks for your help. Jason |

Re: 94, Ram, 5.2 Water pump-224,759mi
when i did my water pump on a 5.9 i had to drive a wooden wedge in between the pullies then pop the **** out of the wrench to get the nut loose then wedge from other side to tighten it. the bypass hose is easy to put on if you put it on as you put the waterpump on.and you do not want to lay a clutch fan flat on the ground or shop floor as this will ruin it.
