Re: 94 With 5sfe Loses Power Between 2 And 3 K Rpm's
Sounds like you need a good ol' tune up. Meaning the following:
1) New plugs, properly gapped. 2) Check or replace the spark plug wires. 3) Clean or replace the cap and rotor. Remove all oxidation crust from the terminal posts and contacts. 4) Check and adjust the ignition timing. 5) Clean or replace the PCV valve. 6) Clean the EGR valve or replace if it isn't refurbishable (pricey, be careful!) 7) Use some Seafoam or similar engine cleaner to dissolve carbon deposits. 8) Check/change the oil/filter. 9) Check/change the air filer. 10) Check/change the tranny fluid & filter. Try these first before blowing money on a hunch. Hope this helps!

Re: 94 With 5sfe Loses Power Between 2 And 3 K Rpm's
welcome to the world of 94 camry malfuntions..them dudes glue the magnets
in the distributor magnets into to pick-up guess what ,the bottom ones come loose from heat and leaky v/c gaskets .that can really mess with the ecm.you can't really see it w/o takeing the dist. out.this design has a lot of easy faults and is not serviceble! new from toy.450.00 rebuilt 200.00ish it is truely a piece of .... design ! how can you expect glue to hold in heat conditions...I found one in a junk yard for 85$ how much longer it will last I don't know.just a heads up's on my headache thanks guys.

Re: 94 With 5sfe Loses Power Between 2 And 3 K Rpm's
I am glad you found your problem!
Keep in mind that this vehicle is 14 YEARS OLD! A week ago I replaced a distributor on my son's 95 Accord due to ckacked wire insulation. My thanks go to japanies automakers! Not that many american cars of that age are on the road now. Sam

Re: 94 With 5sfe Loses Power Between 2 And 3 K Rpm's
hey come on now most ofthe custom cars i build are 60's-70's muscle
stuff atleast i know most of the factors that involve the ignition system cause i upgrade them.this one was kinda a learning challenge but i found out i really don't wanna go through this crap again !although i must admit it taught me a small lesson that even though you can repair anyting those ghosts are still there.unfortunatly snap-on does have cameras to find them guys......... |
