engine light, please help.
I have a 2003 chevy s10. the check engine light came on about a week ago, but has been running fine. I had ran it for the code and received p1137. it said that the definition was H02S-12 low voltage during power enrichment. then the explanations were 1. failed H02s-12- heater circut and 2. improper oxygen supply to sensor-check sensor connector and wires. I'm not really sure where to go from here, so if anyone couold give some advice it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Re: engine light, please help.
Welcome to the Forum. Where did you get the code read? Whoever read the code should have been able to give a better break down than that, however, It sounds to me like you have a heated Oxygen sensor with a problem. First do the obvious and simply crawl under the truck when it is cool and inspect the sensors (yes there are 2 of them) and make sure the connectors are tight and no burnt wires etc. I would consider clearing the codes and see if they repeat again. Oxygen sensors are not cheap so before you replace them, do a thorough inspection.

Re: engine light, please help.
I had it checked for free at autozone. So, they don't completely diagnose the problem, just give you a general idea. I'll have to check the O2 censors like you said. To turn off the check engine light, can i leave the car running and disconnect the battery to clear it? Or is there an easier way? Thanks a lot for your help so far!

A heated O2 sensor with a problem? You must be a detective. Ray; go to a shop, see if you can get an ALLDATA, or Mitchell's online, printout for O2 diagnostic procedure. Offer them a few bucks if you have to. You'll need a multimeter too. Testing an O2 and harness is a pain, but you can do it yourself, or pay big $$$ to get it [maybe] done properly at a shop. In the meantime, unplug the battery and clear it. When it fails, it will keep the fuel delivery in Open Loop, which is max fuel. Bad mileage too! |

Re: engine light, please help.
Usually an O2 sensor error caused by something other like the lack of a tune up will cause the Check Engine Light to come on only when the error occurs and will go of when turning off and restarting the engine. If the error is solid, you have a bad sensor or wiring. Sometimes just unplugging it and reseating the plug will fix it.
