93 S-10 blazer won't start

My S-10 blazer will not start. The motor turns over but nothing else. I tried starter fluid but nothing happened. When I turn the key forward I can hear the fuel pump. I checked the fuel pressure and it was 60 psi. I changed the ignition module but nothing. Can someone help?

Re: 93 S-10 blazer won't start

Go easy on the starter fluid unless you want to blow the dipstick threw the hood!!!!!!
Only use carb cleaner for starting aid.
Have you got spark to tall plugs?
Does it have spark at coil?
Do you have ign voltage at coil?
Is the dist rotor turning when cranking?
Is the starter cranking good?
Check coil or try a know good one on it.
And check for good spark at coil.

There is also a pickup coil in the dist.
Ohm it out while cranking engine.

Re: 93 S-10 blazer won't start

I'm not getting spark at the coil and none at the plugs. The ignition module is new, so is the coil. I replaced the dis. cap but not the rotor. The contacts inside the cap had burn grooves in them so I changed it. The rotor had a little wear on the end . It looked ok. I was going to change it but could not get it off. Does it just pull off because I could not find any screws. Does the electric come through the ignition module? NO SPARK Need help
I changed the battery
The starter is turning good

Yes, the rotor just pulls off.

If it's that tight, you might want to dress the distributor shaft with some fine grit sandpaper while you have the rotor off.

The one on my '93 Bravada was so rusted when I bought it, the rotor wouldn't go all the way down and messed up 2 caps until I found and fixed it.

Check for spark from coil.
Check coil for ign voltage key on.
If coil and ign module is good and dist is turning your next step is to test the pick up coil in the middle of dist.

Or just pull dist and have it tested.
To replace the pickup coil in dist the dist ghas to come apart.
Also check dist for sideway loosness.
If dist shaft or bushing is worn out you may want to go with a rebuilt dist.
Good Luck

Do you have ignition voltage to the coil DURING crank (or start) mode? I had one that the ignition switch went bad- had no voltage to coil during "start" mode- only during ignition on mode.....always woth checking and easy to do

Re: 93 S-10 blazer won't start

Thanks everybody for the replies. I'm out of town through the week because of work. I will check these items sat. and reply. I need to get this thing running before winter.

How do you check if the rotor is turning?
How do I check if power is coming in to the dis.?
A person at work told me that the cable from the coil to the cap could cause this, is this true?

Re: 93 S-10 blazer won't start

Go back to top post and,
Read what we have been trying to tell you,

To check for rotor tunning remove dist cap and crank engine with starter and watch the dist rotor.
Does it turn when cranking engine.
Is the coil getiing spark at the coil wire at coil?
Does the coil have 12 volts to it key on or engine cranking?
