oil leak and low oil pressure at idle

I have a 1990 plymouth laser turbo. It has a bad oil leak that i have been continuously trying to hunt down. It seaeed to be leaking from under the car so I crawled underneath to identify it's location and it was coming from behind the timing belt cover. So I proceeded to tearing the whole driverrs side of the engine apart. Once completely apart I started the car to try to identify its location. The oil was splattering all over the place. It was constantly bouncing off of the timing belt. Could it be my cam seals causing so many problems? Ok next issue; my car does excelent while driving but once I come to a stop say at a ight the oil pressure bottoms out and the car starts to smoke horribly. The manual says that it coud be my oil relief valve spring? Any suggestions muchly appreciated
