93 Euro: fuel pump and EGR valve
k, first: my car decided last night that it didnt want to start anymore.
I'm trying to remember but i cant, if I can hear the noise of the pump when i first start the car, because now when I turn the key forwards, I dont hear anything whatsoever, even with the door open, and when I turn the car over, the engine doesnt catch, as if it has no fuel...it cranks just fine but just doesnt catch...so, im thinking the fuel pump is shot or a fuse blew (which im going to check out today) if anyone has any other useful theories based on my info thus far, please lemme know! also, my mechanic has informed me that my EGR valve is dead (and has been since I bought it 2 years ago) if I get a working one from a junk yard, what kind of difference will I notice in my cars performance and overall behaviour? ALSO, what would cause some lights on my heater/AC/fan control module to not work...all over the car there are random courtesy lights that dont work...it's more of an aesthetics reason that I want them to work, also for my curiosity... thanks in advance! |

Re: 93 Euro: fuel pump and EGR valve
After you check the fuses, spray carb cleaner or starting fluid into the intake see if it starts, then pursue the fp issue. The egr will not affect performance other than preventing detonation. How about " random" bulbs?

Re: 93 Euro: fuel pump and EGR valve
Well, checked the fuses and the corresponding relays and they're all fine. The IGN fuse seemed to be blown, but when I put a new one in, it was the same.
I'm going to try the carb cleaner method soon and go from there. |

Re: 93 Euro: fuel pump and EGR valve
Well, I bought a can of Quick Start from Canadian Tire and the engine started to fire up as I sprayed the can into the throttle body. SO that tells me that there's no fuel getting into the engine, meaning fuel pump is dead. Great.

You need to check fuel pressure. See youtube 'fuel pressure test' (EASY TEST). Does it lope when idling at all? |
