5 1/4 or 4x6 Whitch are better?

I have stock 5 1/4 speakers in my door pannels on my eagle talon, im swapping them out ive already swapped the rear ones out for 6x9's but in the front dont have room, I need to know if its would be better to buy a set of 5 1/4's or to sligtly modify it so I can use 4x6's Whitch ones are better and whats the pros and cons I have good luck with sony so either set would be a sony set. Im just wondering basically whitch one will have a "cleaner" sound?

In your opinion whitch would be the best way to go and why, also dont consider the work it will take to modify consider only the speakers themselves.

You might consider enlarging the hole slightly and look into some 5 1/2" sizes, you have a better selection of speakers to choose from including some component setups if you don't mind spending the cash.
