Fujimi 1/24 Nissan Skyline R32 AXIA - finished 22.11.

Hello!

I'm back again with a new kit (Revell Cervini is on the side for a while).

Kit is supplied in a standard Fujimi kinda packaging, meaning:
- very sensitive body plastics,
- drivetrain is same as the one on my S13
- a lot of add-ons (nicely detailed braking discs, Recaro-like seat, exhaust side pipe...)
- Cartograf decals (printed 2005 A.D.)
- widened axles
- roll cage and nicely detailed racing interior

Pics of the kit:

Modifications:
- cut off the original end of the sideskirts and replaced them with the racing kind of sideskirts,
- the lights had a big gap when I glued the bumper to the body,
- I splitted the lights glass (directional lights and lights glass are separate now),
- I also had to glue the last vent shield onto the hood.

To do list:
- I have to polish the body,
- mount the mirrors,
- paint the interior,
- PE seatbelts mounting,
- interior wiring,
- lowering of the car (I fixed the rear part so I still have to do the front)

Decals are on the body...

...and after 48 hours I applied a few layers of 2k clearcoat (I also painted the inside of the rims). As you can see
on the following pic, the car has to be lowered since it's a race car.

Fujimi instructed me to chopp the dashboard:

Thanks to Fujimi I also had to scratch the door opening mechanism. I drilled a hole in the door,
glued a piece of styrene on the outside and glued the handle
inside the "pot".

I also had to make new kevlar decal because the Fujimi's has incorrect shape. Original is on the right and
Mr.Modeler's kevlar on the left (mine).

I also had some time to paint the small parts.

Here's what my doors will look like (I'll put some BMF on the doors):

...and here's the whole topic of this R32 Skyline.

Can anyone please tell me what is this cylinder on the right side of the photo for? Te pipeline is similar to the fuelline...

The thing is located next to the doors on both sides as you can see on the following pic.

Excellent work thus far, the decals for this look quite difficult.

Re: Fujimi 1/24 Nissan Skyline R32 AXIA

it may be for the hydraulic jacks(not realy sure). the car must have 4(?) cylinders under the chassis, which are the jacks that automatically lifts the car up.
the tamiya version have this and AFAIK lines up with the jacks

it can be seen on this photo, under the side skirt, just behind the front wheel and after the door. D:

PS
hanzel here.

Re: Fujimi 1/24 Nissan Skyline R32 AXIA

Thanks again Hanzel!

Yes, it's probably used to lift the car as in the LeMans races. A friend of mine gave me that second
opinion although he races gokarts.

Re: Fujimi 1/24 Nissan Skyline R32 AXIA

Again some progress with the Axia. I started with the interior wiring.

Car battery connectors are made out of 0.3mm thick aluminium:

Hanzel and a friend of mine came to the same conclusion. The funny cylinders in the interior are used for lifting the car so that the car's crew can change tires.
Red and blue fittings are made out of insulation of a telephone cable.

You can see the pneumatic cylinders under the sideskirts of this marvelous Calsonic's R32.

This is how the dryfit of the cables looks like through the "rear window".

And this is how it should look like in the end:

Re: Fujimi 1/24 Nissan Skyline R32 AXIA

I "spiced up" the interior by adding some anti-slip surface on the driver's side. I also made the fuel lines by using guitar strings and Tamiya mat black.
Zip ties are very thin copper wire ( I didn't feel like painting it). The fire extinguisher also isn't attached yet because of the repainting of the complete interior
(I have to do it again because of some scratches).

The pink wire is actually red - my WB on SE P1i is very selective (it works when it doesn't have to).

Re: Fujimi 1/24 Nissan Skyline R32 AXIA

I borrowed a real camera from my GF to show you the improvement of the car's stance. It took me ages to figure out how to lower the Fujimi's ugly chassis
but now I figured it out. I will show it to you when I'll finish the model in a little photo-session. I had to do something good to use it also on my Fujimi S13 UTE.

Anyway... This it how it looked like before (mock up):

...and after the "touch" (not to mention that I had to trim the axles also - too wide  ):

Nice work on that colourful R32, the decal job looks great.
I must also recommend the Tamiya R32 GTR, it has the full engine & race interior, you can still find them on online auction sites, i even think Tamiya did the Axia GTR aswell. great work so far cant wait to see more

Re: Fujimi 1/24 Nissan Skyline R32 AXIA

Thank you!
I'd probably agree with you two but that's all I could get. I'm making myself a small Skyline collection
and this R32 seemed like a challenge with it's decals.

I'm slowly finishing the interior:

Lights are in place:

Here is the rest of my Skylines:

Skyline PGC-10:

Skyline R34 Z-TUNE:

Re: Fujimi 1/24 Nissan Skyline R32 AXIA

I'd like to give special thanks to Hanzel and Jimmy for helping me out with the body raising pneumatic cylinders:

...and the rest of the members who kept this topic alive!

I'd like to present you the list of the mods:

- scratched foot pedals,
- scratched door handles,
- PE belts,
- Wiring of the interior
- switches on the console,
- original dash was cut to insert a switch panel instead of the originally inserted car-radio and heat-temp knobs,
- PE belts attached with metal pins

- original sideskirts were cut for easier fit of the sport-end sideskirts which were originally supplied by Fujimi,
- PE vipers,
- PE hood pins,
- Cartograf labels,
- thinned rear wall below the rear lights,
- hand-painted small rear spoiler,
- I had a problem with an agressive
"aftermarket" acrylic thinner after removing Zero's semi gloss black from the window - I removed the fault with sandpaper P2000
and Tamiya's polish pastes fine and finish.

- lowered chassy,
- air inlets on the rims,
- scratched a part of the exhaust system,
- weathered chassy,
- wiring of the rear brakes,
- narrowed rear axle,
- painted the bolts on the rims

Here are the photos but without the body photos because I didn't have tha opportunity to take them.

Hand painted the small rear spoiler (yeah, could've done better) :

I borrowed a few photos from my friends who made photos of my car:

Thank you for watching and commenting this build!

Re: Fujimi 1/24 Nissan Skyline R32 AXIA

Thanks for the comments!
I didn't have much time to put some effort in this build because I had to finish it in one month. We had
national championship on saturday (22.11.) so I had to speed it up a little bit. I think the interior looks
quite like the original but I can't say the same for the body. I have a lot of mistakes like bubbles under
the decals and some panels are "flooded" with clear...
...and the mods were almost necessary.

I'll take my time on the Eleanor '05.
