98 GA GT P0401 code

Hey folks. I have a 98 Grand AM GT V6. Im getting Code 0401 (EGR Gas flow insufficient). I replaced the egr valve cleaned out the tube coming off the exhaust but still have this error code. What else could it possibley be? Clog in the intake side at the EGR valve maybe? The DPFE (differential pressure) sensor if it has one?

Re: 98 GA GT P0402 code

I would clean out the intake side.
Also did you clear the code after replacing the EGR ?

Yes I cleared the code, took it for a drive and the CEL came on with in the first mile.

Re: 98 GA GT P0401 code

OK problem was major clog in the intake. Removed the throttle body then there it was. The path leading to the EGR was totally clogged with carbon. Scraped it all out and cleaned it up. Problem solved. Took about hour and half.

Glad you got it fixed!
Your original EGR probly wasnt even bad, just the clog causing the DTC.
