Originally I purchased a rebuilt from a guy in south carolina
[email protected] because it was less expensive and he came recommended.I put it in the car and it was steering bad.Everytime I would turn left or right it would catch and pull the steering back the other way.Later he told me the 1st unit he sent me had a wrist pin clip come loose. I don't think it was leaking.
The only thing my original unit was doing was leaking so I told him to rebuild it.I put it back in and about 1000 miles later I noticed the fluid was low and the system was obviously making noise. The rubber boot under there was all full of fluid.I took it out and had him rebuild it a 2nd time and here I am again and it is low on fluid and making noise less than 500 miles later. He said my original unit was very clean when he took it apart. He said he tested it on his bench for 20 minutes and it never leaked. He has been very accomodating, paying for all the shipping etc,...Is it possible that even though my original unit was only leaking and everything else seems fine that this unit will always leak?I don't understand why it doesn't leak when I first install everything and drive it. I am using a power steering fluid from Auto Zone in Calif that says Honda right on the bottle.I have 154,788 miles on my original unit. They want $180 for a rebuilt one out here at Auto Zone with a lifetime warranty.I am in no hurry so having the car sit is no problem. The one thing I have not tried is another one of his rebuilt units.Has anyone dealt with this same problem or have a recommendation?I would like to think had the clip not come loose on the original one he sent me I might be not posting this.
Thanks,Paul
