Re: Tamiya McLaren MP4/7

Steve, impressive car paintjob, very clean build, perfect car color match.

The only point a try to improve is weathering and wash on Senna figure.....

I really apreciate your build, congrats!

Not weathering the car I suppose? The tires are brand new and doesn't look like they have been used. So the car hasn't run and McLaren has in the Ron Dennis regime never run a car with even the tiniest dust speck on. I'm not sure that dirt has been allowed to adhere to McLaren surfaces ;-)

The stencil on the tires are a little overdone IMHO, IIRC the stencilling was done with dots?

A little thing about seat belts. If Senna is going IN the car the shoulderstraps should be visible. But that is details.

Extremely nice job on painting and clearcoating. 2K is quickly becoming my favourite too.

Re: Tamiya McLaren MP4/7

That figure adds buckets load of character to your beautiful build. Just missing a better background to really "complete" the shot, I think.

How can anybody be critical? Must be insecurity. I and the rest of the AF community think it's stunning! I followed it through your build and the result is simply amazing. You da man!

Re: Tamiya McLaren MP4/7

flhansen.

I talk about Senna´s overall (race suit), not car....
In my opinion Senna´s overall need some wash and weathering, in order to simulate cloth shades....overall seem too flat in my opinion.....but I really like so much the car......

HamburgerHead, I really don´t understand your behavior.....I built F-1 models for last 12 years, and I never have insecurity feeling about my model opinions ....You need know how to differ in opinion of your

Steve, I post this one time and I post again, here: I really like so much your job.

Regards.

Re: Tamiya McLaren MP4/7

I wanted to ask, did you glue the steering wheel there, or did you just place it on top? Just wondering as I'm curious what steps you took to make sure the glue didn't eat away at the clear layer. Or did you use Klear or something? Thanks

Re: Tamiya McLaren MP4/7

Overall, this is awesome work. So clean and so likeable.
I love it and want to do some similar dioramas.

Sure, there are some smaller details that could be added9as pointed out be some pple), but overall, the essence of the moment is captured nicely.

Re: Tamiya McLaren MP4/7

Thanks a lot for all the comments, I appreciate them all. This was really just a quick build. That's why I left the engine unwired etc, etc.I've been away from the models for a while and just wanted to do something quick, easy and above all enjoy the building of it, which I did, enormously.

I used the smallest dot of white PVA (wood glue) to hold it in place. It won't attack the paint layers and if you ever want to remove it in the future I think you probably could.

Re: Tamiya McLaren MP4/7

You have done a very nice job for a quick build! Nice and clean work, painting with Zero paints is just great. I hope i will build the same Racecar next year and i will try to follow your way Senna's figure is just the Cherry on the cake! With weathering or not it's just great!
Hope to see more nice Racecars from you in the future!
Regards, Tibi
