2000 Jimmy problem, possible fuel pump or Electronic?

Hi , need some help with my '00 Jimmy....was driving a week ago, was low on gas, the low fuel light came on and it started to buck but i had a good 2 miles to go till the nearest station....so i tried to make it, but it stalled out .... pulled off to the side, got someone to bring some gas, put 5 gallons in....still wouldnt start, and now the batt was dead, got a jump, still wouldnt turn over, although the radio, lights and windows were working, intermittently..security light, dome lights, clock etc were flicking on and off.. Thought maybe it was the pump, but i can hear the pump whirring by the gas cap when i turn the key....

Got it towed home, put a new batt in (the old one was dead, only showing 7 volts at autozone...)was starting to think it may be a blocked fuel filter....

Could it possibly be electronic in nature? I have a chip key, and i was thinking maybe it has something to do with the anti-theft/computer stuff..since I tried starting the car a few times after it crapped out on me on the side of the road (I know GMC has the anti-theft thingy that blocks the fuel injectors )....so i tried the Passlock re-learn.....still no sucess...

...checked all fuses , none blown....

My mechanic friends say if the pump was shot , it wouldnt be whirring when u turn the key....

Any other advice guys, would like to fix it here and avoid the tow to a shop if at all possible, thanks a ton!

You need to get a fuel pressure guage on there and see what type of pressure the system is getting up to. Even though the pump is working, it may still not be functioning properly to get it up to the proper pressure. Get a fuel pressure guage on there first and go from there.
