Alero Coolant

What is the procedure to refill the coolant on an Alero. I already drained the old coolant out and ran some clean water through the radiator. I then added coolant but it is not leaving the overflow container. So I only have about 1 gallon of coolant in the system right now. What is the process for getting air out of the system?

Re: Alero Coolant

I found this pretty helpful when figuring out how to bleed the system.

Welcome to AF.

It would help to post what engine you have?

For example on the 3400 V6 engine you bleed air out on the return line located at the water pump on that black tower. The bleeder sits right on top.

When filling the cooling system you have to let the car idle and warm up sufficiently to get the thermostat opened.
