2002 Overland

Hi

My 2002 Grand Cherokee Overland has been a great car
However I am at my wits end now and sure could use some help
Thought I was a OK mechanic until I found this issue

I hear a metal grinding noise aka crunching during hard slow turns most often left turns. The noise comes from up front. I Put the jeep up on jack stands and checked all the linkages and bearings all tight and in good order. The Jeep has 63K miles.

Another question - are the CV joints prone to failure? What is the symptom when they start to fail?

Thanks for the help

I would pull the front driveline & check the joints. The first signs of failure are they get dry & tight. Then after they break the needle bearing they get nosier & loose. Hard to really check without pulling the driveline out.
