No EZ filter change
Vehicle: 2004 Honda Pilot, 25,000 miles
FYI: Rusty bolts that secure the air box lid makes the simple air filter replacement very difficult. Instead of clips, Honda chose to use low quality bolts that became rusty and deteriorated from 8mm bolt heads down to 5/16" after the rusty flakes fell off the bolt head. The bolt head has a phillips-type slot but the bolt heads crumbled if you applied any pressure on them. It was a bit tricky to loosen the bolts and I made sure to WD40 them and paint them before re-installing them....Check yours out FYI: The FRAM replacement filter looks similar but is not made exactly like the factory filter. I am going to stay with the factory filter. Cut out slots in the plastic frame were on the wrong side of the filter. |

Re: No EZ filter change
I do not remember any problems with my son's 2005. I think I bought it on Ebay
And yes this is a bad design for the bolts since we have the same problem with 1995 Accord as well. Sam
