98 A/C question

Today I noticed that when i put my car on the defrost for front windshield, its blowing cold air, like ac is on... but my ac is off? its actually so cold of air, it makes condensation build up on my windows to the point it drips down... should this be happening? if i put it to front vents, you get that smell when turning off an A/C and it starts blowing just air...

fyi - the little green light does work when i push the ac button... so i iknow its off....

thanks
Brian

Re: 98 A/C question

Well, low and behold, the car is MADE to do that.. the air is on when the button says it isn't ....OK... good job Chrysler! if i don't want my air on,then i don't want it on.. shouldn't it be up to me? i hate my air on. stupid chrysler.. that means, in the winter time, when you have your blower on defrost to melt ice on windshield.. your AIR COMPReSSOR is on, blowing hot air cause you would have it turned onto hot air in the winter.. even thought the AC compressor is on.. GHEY! another way to use more gas right?

Most all cars are that way. A/C does 2 things remove heat and remove moisture.

if the compressor plays such a critical part with the "defrost", then how come it doesn't come into play for a safety.. this is the first car i have ever owned that does this.. my ac worked in my 2002 protege and it didn't do it.. i could watch on the compressor and it was put on defrost, my clutch for the compressor would not engage.. all well..
