98 Blazer Starting Problems Again

The car sits over the weekend and will not start. New AC fuel pump, new AC platinum spark plugs, new AC cap and rotor, fuel pressure is at 60 lbs. GM sensors, MAP, MAF, TPS, intake air, new fuel injection (MFI), new cats, new ignition module, and coil, Just bought camshaft positioning sensor and hopefully it will do something. Did not replace O2 sensors, no codes ever came up, except MAP and TPS. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: 98 Blazer Starting Problems Again

You need 64-65 lbs of fuel pressure to squit injectors on a cold start.
Will it start with a squirt of carb cleaner.
If so it is a fuel delivery problem.
Does it have good hot blue spark to all plugs?
Did codes come back after clearing?

Re: 98 Blazer Starting Problems Again

Are you still getting codes after clearing codes?
Check for good hot blue spark to all plugs.
Have you had the dist out or the plug wires off?
Check dist cap and rotor for moisture and cracks and carbon tracking.

Is your fuel gauge reading right?
Try another gauge or check another car with it.
What is the direct fuel pressure at fuel filter?
Or with return line blocked off?

I have the exact same problem with mine. Let it sit for 2 days and it won't start. Also have the problem with the ignition switch......it seems like it will fire just as you're shutting the ignition switch off.

I know I can get mine started by putting a hair dryer (placed on high heat) next to the lower left side of the distributor cap for about 20 minutes and it will start right up. Goofy, I know but it works. And yes I also, replaced my distributor cap and all of the internal parts less than a year ago.

One side question I have to ask you is..... when you replaced your fuel pump did you change your wiring harness and update your ground connection to the frame? I'm also having fuel pump issues where the fuel pump does not always want to start when the ignition switch is turned on. Sometimes I have to pound on the bottom of the tank to get ithe pump started.
