scarey experience today

so i'm crusing down the park way doin about 75 mph and bam the front of my car, what sounds to be my axle is making a lot of noise, i know my cv joint is goin bad, so i'm thinking my axle is on its last legs and is about to blow, and then bam, i hit the throttle and it freely revs... i get over off the road as fast as possible and stopped... we call AAA and get a wrecker sent out sitting waiting for it to come i notice my camber is way off, i turn the wheels and it gets worse, i hop out and look all 4 of my lugs nuts are gone! i put one on from each wheel and drive home as slowly as is possible on a freeway stopping a few times to check them... they kept coming loose! i'm going to replace the studs and get new nuts this weekend... but damn that was scarey

trust me i thought about what coulda happened had i lost that wheel and wow am i friggen lucky... and the studs were out of the wheel enough that it'd just spin inside the wheel, but no major damage occured... and i was like well i have 4 nuts on all of em... so i took on off each wheel... mean while my roommate who is high as a kite went back the rod and found one haha he saw another but it was acroos the freeway... so right now it has 3 nuts on each wheel... so its sitting till i can get home to get the studs and nuts for it...

First off I'm glad you are alright. Also when I got new tires on my accord a while ago they ddin't tighten my lugnuts all the way and on the way home I heard pretty much the same noise as you, but i broke one of my studs from the wheel moving so much. It was a pain to change the studs though. They are cheap, but it took forever.

Sounds freaky... reminds me of the time i was towin a VW baja behind my mom's truck on the freeway. I heard a pop & the truck pulls hard to the right doin about 60mph then I see the big ass rear wheel from the VW pass me up & cross 2 lanes, hit the curb & bounce about 10ft in the air. Anyway i pulled over & borrowed a lug from each wheel & continued my journey.

yea, glad to hear your alright man. Whenever I had my tires changed, back when I still had my steelies, I was at the tire shop my dad works at, tightening up the lugs with the impact, and I always go back a second time to make sure they are nice and snug, the dumbass manager goes, "Back off there boy, your gonna warp the wheel" I'm like "Man, Im making sure these bitches don't come off. I don't trust them just going around once." And that is the exact reason.
