Question 2nd row Bucket to Bench Seat swap

My sister has a 00-06 style Suburban with 2nd row buckets and needs more seating capacity, so she is interested in replacing the buckets with a bench seat. She asked the dealer, and they said it couldn't be done.

I have a feeling it's just that the dealer doesn't want to. Does anyone know of a legitimate reason why this swap can't be done? I don't see why in the world it couldn't, but I'm not a Suburban expert.

Thanks

Re: 2nd row Bucket to Bench Seat swap

you bet it can be done. I have done it to mine and can swap back and forth as needed. We have it down to just under an hour for the swap. I found a set of buckets online several years ago. I have a 2000. my buckets were from a 2001. I had to order a few trim parts but not many, several trim parts work on both seats. We had to drill a hole in one of the buckets (same but different, you know how that goes) but otherwise a easy bolt in change. I was lucky as my seat colors matched.

I found mine on ebay. most people want the buckets so you might be able to do the swap with someone with little cash outlay. If you have to change colors, check out leatherseats.com

Re: 2nd row Bucket to Bench Seat swap

This swap takes less than an hour and requires nothing more than hand tools. Your dealer is being lazy. There isn't even a seatbelt issue as the belts are integral to the seats. Shop on ebay as OXCSub suggests and go for it. If you sell the bucket seats, you will more than recoup the cost of the bench as the bucket swap is what most people want. (I went from bench to buckets).

Re: 2nd row Bucket to Bench Seat swap

I had to drill a hole in one of the seat brackets so a guide pin in the floor would fit, not the bucket seat..Sorry
