fuel pump

Hi

Please can somebody provide me the working pressure of the Fuel pump that can run the engine. The mechanic replace the fuel pump but I still the wont start. I think this pump that they replace is not the right one. I did try to run the pump but there no enough pressure on the pump.

thanks

with any question to get help you must supply the vehicle details. year ,model, engine, drivetrain mileage etc....also what issues, and what parts replaced if any...

fuel pumps must supply the correct pressures ,,this is depending on what engine and model year...use of a pressure guage is required to measure this...also you must check for proper voltage and grounds at the pump ...fuel filter as well as fuel pump relays and many other items can mess up this component..

Hi

Thank you for your quote and sorry forgot to put the specs :
SUBURBAN 1500 LT 4X. 2002 year model,
Actually the problem is this: while traveling the engine just suddenly stop and we cannot run the engine again. we brought the Suburban to a shop/mechanic and he told us that the only problem is the fuel pump. but once he replace the pump still problem occur. Once he left the suburban unrepaired I did check myself on the problem. I observe once I test the pump that he installed there's no enough pressure to build-up. I realized if there's any specified pressure for the pump to feed to the injector pump?
the supply voltage of the pump is fine.. relays and fuse is fine... actually I cannot find the old pump in which the mechanical replace..`

you did not mention what engine .. but since this is a 4X4 1500 the 5.3L engine is most likely it.

with a pressure guage you measure the fuel rail pressure. this is on the passenger side. with ignition turned on not cranking the pressure should rise to 60 psi or more then this pressure should not drop off rapidly after the 2 sec time out...when the engine starts it will drop slightly and fluctuate to the 52-58 psi area..if the pressure is below these amounts it will not start....

It has occured that pumps are not properly installed, that the pickup tube is messed up..also most use delphi pumps. If this is an airtex pump these are known defective units.

post back what you got then other items may need testing..
