Power window

This is a 2000 Silverado 1500, where is a good place to purchase the power windows motor assemble. I need the driver's side and the passenger side power window motor.

By the way I found out how to remove the door panels here. This is the best forum that I have found for car and truck problems. I know that I will get good information for the problems at hand.

There are many posts about power windows in this forum. This is from an old post, the links still work.
"I paid $110 for the motor, tracks, cable etc. from these guys. It's all one big assembly. It fit. It works. I don't use it a lot.
They have Chinese versions for less.

I think the job took an hour or so.
I recommend taping the glass to the top of the door before removing the mechanism.
I used directions from Crutchfield to remove the door panel. These directions are pretty good.

Note: The price for mine appears to have gone up to $122.

Thanks for the info, found on ebay for 24.97 each plus shipping. Had to buy both right and left sides. The diver's side will be a pia the window is about half way down. It will be very instering doing that side.

I'VE done both windows oem and 1a auto suppliers 1a auto the cables where larger and coated with white grease...1a auto was cheaper and higher quality... they also carry the cheaper models also..



my window regulators failed because of cables damaged rusted...i don't use my windows ...so they were not worn out ..



make sure the windows are taped in the closed position so that no way they will fall down , the rest is easy job be careful with the electrical connectors/speaker etc.....

I am in the process of doing the driver's side window first. the window is stuck open. Had to put a garbage bag over the door, so it would not rain in. I have already taped the window, so it will not fall down and shatter. have to take a break, my back is killing me.

if this occurs again [window inop....] you can unplug the window motor cut the cable and by pulling the cable and rapping the cable around a screw head keep the window in the up position until repairs can be made....


in the middle of winter my driver window failed ..so the repair was delayed until april when things got warmer and i acquired part.

That is a good idea. I got the assembly installed with some minor issues. The window would go down but real slow. But the window would not go back up. I finally said f it and left the window open just a crack. She has vent visors installed. Then on Monday the window worked perfectly. Does the new window reglator need to strech the cables. Or do the rails need to bend to the contours of the door. Before I installed the assembly, I lube up the cables and rails where the slides go up and down.

See here is your problem 24.97....
I replaced my manual crank window mechanisims on my 2000 Silvy with power units form A-1 ,unbolt the old, bolt in the new wire it up and that`s it done deal. Not knocking you for trying to save a buck as I like to save one if I can but as the old saying goes you get what you pay for.

Well, when I got home from work last night. I replaced the passenger side power window regulator. It took me around 45 minutes to complete the repair. That also included coming inside to cool off. It was very hot and humid. This one was much easier due to that the window got stuck up.

FYI, when I replaced 3 of my regulators/motors a couple months ago, I found that most of the local auto parts stores stocked the front window kits on the shelf - getting to be a common problem I guess.

for you infomation these window regulators have been a problem on this vehicle since 2000 as the cables where never properly greased on installation from factory this should have been recall....failure occurs when the defective crap cables rust out from a little mosture in the door pocket....1a auto has the cables at the best price/quality and that includes GM OEM regulators...as these 1a auto cables came lubed oem was not lubed and 2x more cash
