Re: Tamiya Sauber-Mercedes C9

Nice work so far, I managed to pick up the very same model about a month ago, it might be the next build after my Mazda 787 get's finished off. Never built a model with PE yet, anything I should be aware of or any tools like an angle bender needed at all?

Hey outamyhead, first time i use pe also You need to bend some parts, like 1 and 2 from the pe set, they have to be in the same shape as the front wheel arches... Havent done that yet Only bended one thing and thats the front towhook, needs to be an 90° angle but you can easily do that with tweezers...

Re: Tamiya Sauber-Mercedes C9

It looks like your off to a good start. I like your detailing so far on the engine and bulkhead.

Re: Tamiya Sauber-Mercedes C9

Nice start so far. Tamiya has had a couple different mixes to try to simulate the kevlar, I think they use the same mix on the Mazda 787B. You should check some reference pictures for the rear crossmember though, it should not be opened up as you have done but webbed as the part is supplied. Keep going, it's a really nice kit. Looking forward to more progress.

You have forgotten, that the forward part should be a single whole! You have not cleaned a crack where details are joined!!

On the boxart you can clearly see the pannelline of the 2 pieces...
I dont really build my models 100% like in real life and spend time first on searching the web to see if its really intended to be build as tamiya says.

The vents might be open or covered depending on track and race variables. Open for a track with a lot of braking or very high temps to help cool the brakes or closed for better aerodynamics if additional cooling is not required.

A good kit that one, because it's actually a Hasegawa!

Re: Tamiya Sauber-Mercedes C9

Good job on the decals, they have always scared me away from this kit. Too many right angles and parrallel lines.

What color did you use on the wheels?
