1999 F150 4x4 rear brake drum removal?

Can anyone tell me how to get the drums off this truck? They aren't the style I've seen before that either slip off or have a nut to remove.

Does the whole axle have to come out as a unit on these? Or am I losing my mind??

Any help appreciated..i have a loud clunk when i apply my brakes and grinding going on, and the truck only has 23,000 city 1 owner miles, but is rusty....definately the rear brake.

Smack the drums with a BFH and they will come off.

Re: 89 F150 4x4 rear brake drum removal?

Thanks, i had already tried that but moved up to a really BF sledge hammer and got them off...rear brakes are fine.

It was a front rotor lower mounting bolt that had come out, and the caliper was slapping. Funny how sound travels. Hopefully i can buy just a bolt at the delaership, or it will be a trip to the junk yard i guess....at any rate, an easy fix!!

Thanks for you help!!
