Mazda I4 > Toyota V8

I was cruising home from the girl's last night, just sort of taking it easy and trying to ease up on the miles on my car when I ended up running into what is seeming to be the standard jack off hard core Paul Walker wanna be that is the sudden norm around here. White Lexus SC400, the first gen good looking kind, with an exhaust, and I am will to bet money he had like a drop in filter or something, because you could hear it sucking in air pretty loud for a Lexus, but it wasn't like, CAI/SRI loud. It reminded me of when I had the K&N drop in on my 325i. You could hear it, but it wasn't clear.

Anyway, I'm slowing down because I'm rolling up to a red light, and in order to save my brakes and syncros just that tinniest bit, I'm rev matching as I down shift. Not Schumacher/SMGII/DSG/The Stig level rev matching, but ya know, decent. Anyway, light goes green, and the guy just shoots off, gets about two lengths up, and hits his flashers.

Uh, ok?

I drop in behind him, and follow him through some light traffic, trying to get him to slow up so we can line up. He finally breaks out and takes off a bit, while I'm holding it at sixty. He's on it wide open, and I quickly come to the realization he isn't going to slow up and let us get a legit run. I'm sitting around three car lengths behind him when, I shit you not, a few bolts of lightning flash across the sky and I slam it down to fourth and take chase.

Again, I'm three lengths down. I punch it in fourth from 60, right in my sweet spot. I instantly end his pull, and slowly start to roll him back in. He's still wide open, but I'm thinking he was surprised that I decided not to let him win. Roll through fourth, flat shift to fifth at a buck even. By now I've closed the gap down to two lengths and pulling him in hard. By 115 I have him at a length and a half. More lightning flashes across the sky, and by 120 my front wheels is at his rear. I stay on it through fifth, flat shift to sixth at 125, and keep on the pull. I say out loud "I ain't letting you get away sucker" as if he can hear me.

Keep on it in sixth, at 130 we are neck and neck and I'm pulling. By 140 I've pulled him out, his nose sitting at my rear bumper. I hold it out to 150 where I have about half a length on him, and by 155 I'm bouncing my limiter with him about a 3/4 to a full length back. This pisses me off because I still can feel I have some pull in the car. Damn limiters...

I let off, and brake for a seemingly long time to get down to back under the sixty mph limit (two and a half times the limit...fun fun), and the Lexus won't even pull up next to me as I slow down to under thirty to make my up coming turn. Figured as much. Threw on the flashers before I made my turn, just to kick him in the nuts one last time. He reved and tried to punch it as he flew by, but I just laughed at him.

Re: Mazda I4 > Toyota V8

Nice race, always nice to show up a cocky ricer like that. I did the same thing last night....except it was to a V6 mustang, so its not really worth posting...allthough i do have a vid. Hmmm

Anyways nice race, there is a pretty nice SC400 around here black with black rims dropped a bit with a decent mod list. It is for sale, thats how i know that

Re: Mazda I4 > Toyota V8

I have yet to legitimately race a V8 vehicle as far as I can remember. I want to very badly, particularly a 2007 Mustang GT that is owned by a guy I work with who is convinced it is a space shuttle. He plans on S/Cing the thing, but that will be a while as he needs to build it up first. until then, I want to dance circles around him with my 4banger.

nice kill, I am starting to think god invented flashers for this purpose, not as hazard lights. I always like to see my namesake kick a little ass.

I will openly admit that we were dumb there, but we knew it at the time. It was fun to do and say we've done it once...but once is enough for me. Not that the semi was in the least bit of danger but I'm sure we made him nervous. But it WAS fun lol

Fun but I hope you realize that is something to never do again. I have done the speed or more many a time, but with multiple vehicles it's just begging failure.

I've made it a point in every car I've owned to peg the speedo or hit the limiter at least once. Did it a few times in the BMW. First time I did it there, we also had two pounds of black powder in the car...that wasn't a good idea. In the Rav4, I regularly pegged the limiter at 105, lol.

Understandable, but also I have to look at it this way...I'll do a 60 to 80 punch just to get up to speed with traffic when getting on the highway. It so open and flat out here, and with our specific traffic laws, it doesn't matter what the speed limit sign says, you have to do at least 70 to not get run over.

Sounds like our monthly RX7 club cannonball.

Re: Mazda I4 > Toyota V8

Yes, its stupid to do, but hell its fun. Its one of the few major risks I take every once and a while. That was a spur of the moment thing anyways, on the interstate. If you are in a capable car that is stable at those speeds at are atrentive in little to no traffic, then you should be ok. but of course its not without its dangers, not saying its something you HAVE to do.

We usually take as many precautions as possible. But nothing is fun unless you can die in a fireball rolling 25 times at 145 mph.

And most private roads I know of are either gravel or driveways.... unless you count Interstate and Highway as non-public?

Thats what I tell everyone who questions my driving style. I could walk out of my bed room one morning, trip on the staircase, bounce all the way down, and then crack open my skull or break my neck when I hit the tile floor. But there isn't anything cool about that. Shit like that never makes it into rock songs.

But then again, I've also been sky diving a few times, so I think my concept of safe and not safe is quite skewed from the norm.

Re: Mazda I4 > Toyota V8

Mine is fine, I just choose to ignore the concequences most of the time. There is literally a grand total of two things to in Bismarck.

1. Get shitfaced.
2. Blow shit up.

I choose not to do the first, so that narrows it down do blowing shit up. Driving with a few mortar shells in the back seat is quite fun. Light the bitches and throw them out the window.

Stupid and unsafe? fuck yes.
Fun as hilarious? fuck yes.
Worth the risk? see above.
