Is an MSD ignition worth it?
I have bosch +4 Platinum spark plugs and the bosch premium wire set already and was looking into some MSD ignition parts. I was considering the Sport Compact Ignition, Blaster coil, and distributer but need more info. What can I expect from this? Will it just smooth out my throttle response or actually increase HP? I don't have forced induction or anything so I don't use any more fuel, I figure that makes a difference.

Without a lot of mods or boost teh stock ignition system is more than adequate.Honda has one of the best OEM systems on the market.By the way Hondas don't like Bosch products, stick with NGK you will get better results, but no you won't see anyimprovement in you performance with a MSD,you may even start getting interference in your system.

Thanks for the info, you saved me time and money. I'm curious to where you heard that Bosch products don't perform well on Hondas. My spark plugs and wires perform great and I'd never heard of anyone else complaining.

My bestfriend also used Bosch spark plugs on his Civic, and he didn't have any problems either. In fact, he was happy about it because his car performed very well.

I also remember reading somewhere that Honda had a notoriously weak coil. I don't remember where I read this so I don't know how reliable it is. Any info on this? Also before I even read this my coil had gone bad.

I actually switch to a aftermarket coil in my old rex and had a bunch of problems with interference.I have never had a problem with the stock coils, especially in any newer models. But I have heard mention of this somewhere too.
