~ i've spent all my life looking for some aftermarket tail lights for the
: honda civic 4dr-sedan 1991 but to no avail... i prefer some altezza style , or at least Euro.so if any one out there has any info on this "Greeek-Tragedy" , any help will be greatly appreciated. :o and one more thing... if i were to get tail lights ( altezza ) from a hatchback civic 91 , would that be difficult to convert on to my car ? Or actually worth a try ?! any help will be appreciated.. LATE* :bandit: -me- "the latino car fixer upper guy " |

You are not alone. Unfortunately, I have not found any sort of aftermarket lights besides clear lights, and they are ass-ugly (sorry to those who have them, I just don't like em). I have a dark grey 4door, so I was hoping to find carbon-fiber altezzas cuz it would match, and prolly look pretty slick, but no dice. The hatch lights are shorter in height, and narrower in width, so it would take a whole hell of a lot of work to make them fit. But no one said you couldn't try to mould them in... you'd just need a REALLY good custom shop, or a lot of experience.

as far as going custom, here are my thoughts. Find a light that is smaller than the opening. Fabricate a piece of metal that is able to bolt into the stock opening (so it looks flush w/body work, paint same color as car). then cut an opening for the new tail lights and then weld nuts for the new fixtures bolts to fasten to. I might be stating the obvious but as far as custom work goes this seems cheaper then cutting up the trunk up and paying grande denero:bandit:

4dr_civic91 :
Welcome to the board....This is a great resource for Civic;s, and quite a few sedan owners here. And, yeah..nothing other than clears that I am aware of, and I don't really like those either. DarkImportGrey: Is your car the "charcoal grey"? I have the same color as you I think, but it is a DX so the bumpers are black plastic! Blech....I have been looking for a 4door LX or EX that has been wrecked that I can get the painted bumpers from. I am not into body kits, I just want painted bumpers. Here is a pic of my car (old, got clear corners since this pic) And as emil_13 always ends his posts with, especially when he posts pic of his car: Have a nice day! :flash:

Yeah mine is the charcoal grey. My paint is in pretty rough condition. From normal distances it looks fine, but you get up close on the hood and front bumper and you'll see where the previous owner must have driven behind a gravel truck for about 1000 miles. I am in desperate need of a respray, but cash is tight. When I finally do get a new paintjob, I'm going to have the entire car taken down to the metal, then completely resprayed, as well as having the side molding and side mirrors painted the same color. I'll also have my rear emblems shaved, and a gold 'H' put on the hood, and the license plate holes will be shaved up front, and the rough black plastic strip on the front and rear bumpers will be painted as well. I just bought brand new OEM wheelcovers for my car, and they look sweet. The paint on em is just sparkly and clear. My old ones were a dull grey, and were chipped to hell. My car looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor when I get done washing it. GOD I LOVE MY 4G CIVIC!

I've heard from a couple people that so and so company in California manufactures 4D Altezza's privately, but nobody's been able to direct me to a website, phone number, or anything. What a lot of sad, overlooked, sedanists we are.

No aftermarket tails
I acquired my 91 sedan in january 2002, and as i began to do stuff to it, most of it has been practical so far
clear bumper lenses because the stocks were broken, clear corners cause you gotta have both muffler because the stock one rusted and the pipe fell off But I also have been looking for taillights. I would like altezzas of any kind because if I am going to spend the money, I am less likely to get a fix it ticket on altezzas than I am on clears although I like clears better. If anyone finds altezzas at all lemme know. Anyhow, I will post some pics of my car once I put the repainted hubcaps back on (they were chipping and curbed multiple times) Later

:bandit:Dude...my car looks good from a distance too. My hood is all chipped to hell...just the way you described yours - lol . This pic was taken at work one day right after I washed it, and I picked the good side..there are a few dings and dents in the sides you can see close up. I wish I could keep it looking this good. I have since curbed one of my $18 Target 6th Gen knockoff Civic wheel covers, and my muffler is tied up to the car underneath so it won't fall off ![]() If I ever get my ZC in, and then get some more cash a re-spray is in order, and I would get the bumpers and mirrors and the trim/moldings sprayed too so I won't have to Armor All them to make them look good. But it is a good car...the 1.5L is a little tired, and starting to burn some oil, but the thing runs every day and never quits on me, and I push her hard. I only hope the rebuilt ZC will be as reliable ![]() I love my 4th gen too!!! |

My paint is horrible too
My Paint is down to a fairly low layer because they polished it to get it to look good. There are chips all over my hood, but the rest of the car looks ok. I might do a respray sometime, but I gotta prioritise
Immideatly I need to do a new clutch I need tint because I will be attending Heald College next year and the parking lot is nothing but sun A/C recharge ('nuff said) and finally I want to put a 10 or 12 in my car. I have an amp, and I will have a box built soon.
