instrument cluster swap

i have an 02 dodge neon, nothing special just the base model. It has the basic guages speedo, fuel level, water temp and various idiot lights. I found a white faced gauge cluster from an 01 in the junkyard. This cluster has everything mine has but it has the tachometer also. Since my car has 64,000 miles on it, if i got the white faced gauges, will it show my mileage or the milage on the one in the junkyard. I dont know how many miles are on this one but really like the guages. Is there any way to reprogram the cluster to read my milage? not really stupid when it comes to cars, just not very smart when it comes to electronic stuff like this. Thanks!!!

Re: instrument cluster swap

If they are like the 95-99 neons, the mileage isn't programmed into the PCM. We can swap odometers and keep the mileage correct. The cluster will swap right in, just don't know about the mileage situation.

Re: instrument cluster swap

well i got the white faced gauges today and swapped them in but low and behold it has the milage from the donor. my car has almost 65,000 miles but the odometer on the white gauges has 132,000. I havent experimented with it too much to see what all its gonna take to keep my milage but im workin on it. the cluster seems fairly simple to take apart and swap some stuff from mine into it. Ill figure it out sooner or later

Re: instrument cluster swap

I took them both apart and swapped just the odometer part (they are seperate) but it wont even register any numbers just random lights. so i put the old old back in for now. I've tried swapping pretty much anything i could think of. Do you know of anything that might work to keep my milage instead of over double what it should be?
