1995 Eclipse GS HELP!

hi i'm trying to convince my dad to buy a 1995 Eclipse GS with 130k miles on it and he refuses to do so because "its a standard and your going to drive it hard and the eingine is going to break down" how can i counter this argument??? i know very little about cars but i really want to upgrade the eclipse with turbo/exhaust/intake and such would there be anything i could upgrade on the engine to stop it from needing to be rebuilt?

If your already thinking about turboing it I would suggest buying a different car. Sure it can be done but it does cost a good bit or money and you will need a rebuild in a few years.

Re: 1995 Eclipse GS HELP!

So is his answer to any vehicle that's a manual with higher milage going to be the same?? Kinda off-whack if you ask me... They're respectable cars that can run forever if taken care of, but yeah if you want to go the turbo route then it gets expensive, even if you know what you're doing. Find a GST atx and stay safe in your case!

Not to be a negative nancy but... I wish I would have spent the extra money right away and bought myself a $5000-6000 eclipse instead of a $3000 95 gs with 130k on it... by 135k it needed to be rebuilt and cost me an extra 2000 and now it's worth nothing. I could sell it for maybe $3000 if there was someone as stupid as me out there on the market. The only time high mighlage should be ignored in my opinion is if you know you're going to stick with the car. I would have no problem sticking with this car if I could afford to put a turbo in it, but like they said... Buy one with a turbo, then you dont have to waste extra time or money. /rant
