No spark coming out of coil
96 s10 pickup 170,000 miles. I just replaced my lower intake manifold and my truck wouldn't start. No spark coming out of coil, replaced coil, ignition module, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. No voltage going to ignition module when key is in the on position, checked all of the fuses. Noticed oil pressure is all the way to the right, maybe the oil pressure sender is bad but will that prevent the coil from producing any spark?

Re: No spark coming out of coil
Sounds like a bad ignition switch or the fuse that controls the coil- if those are okay- then try jumping 12v straight to the pink wire under the steering column- see if it starts- if so - you have a bad ignition switch..

Re: No spark coming out of coil
I measured 12V at the ECM IGN fuse, would that eliminate the ignition switch?

Re: No spark coming out of coil
If it all worked prior to changing the manifold, I would look back over everthing that was touched and nearby. Verify distributor is in correctly. Make sure all ground straps are back on.

Re: No spark coming out of coil
What engine and engine code?
Check all fuse for 12 volts on both sides key on. The coil should have 12 volts ign to it key on.

Re: No spark coming out of coil
4.3L X
I found a loose connector above the brake booster, it must of get loose when i removed the valve covers. The oil pressure gauge goes back to normal, it starts up now but when i drive it for 10 mins i noticed i lose oil pressure and the engines dies. It starts up after a while then the oil pressure drops again and the engine dies. I read 3 codes P0108, P0700, and P1100. |

Re: No spark coming out of coil
sounds like your fuel pump relay is missing- or inop- and you are running off just the oil pressure switch to the fuel pump-- and you might have an oil pressure issue.....

Re: No spark coming out of coil
Quote:
code 1100 also pertains to map sensor. clear and see if 700 also returns code 700 only informs you of a transmission code or problem. After it is running good if still 700 code get as transmission capsble scanner on it.

Re: No spark coming out of coil
CODES DO NOT SAY REPLACE THE SENSOR.
They say to check it out. If you still have them codes go deaper into it. For the transmission code you are going to need a taransmission/engine capable scanner. Also for the map sensor code. And Some good repair info with the code repair flow charts. A factory repair manual or a All data online sub will be your best friend. http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html
