95 eclipse sputtering

i really need some help here i have a 95 eclipse gs it has a bad sputter bewteen 2500 rpm and snaps out of it by 4000 rpm.although it runs fine when in nuetral or when clutch engaged and u rev it up. I have changed numerous parts on it including: spark plugs, wires, coil pack, o2 sensor, fuel filter, camshaft position sensor, air filter, harmonic balancer. I looked over all my vaccums, i had my transmission flushed, and i cleaned my fuel system and throttle. anyone have any ideas please help me out.

Re: 95 eclipse sputtering

it could be throttle position sensor to. It seems like you are on the right track with what you have already changed. I had something similar to that and it was just a weak signal coming from the TPS. I didn't even know those cars had carburetors?

Re: 95 eclipse sputtering

May also be crank position sensor. Those cause a lot of problems also. Might just want to check to see if it's functioning properly.

Re: 95 eclipse sputtering

Are you reseting the ECu after making these changes?

Re: 95 eclipse sputtering

|I think its a weak signal. my bet is something is getting grounded or shorted somewhere. I mean you have gone through pretty much anything that something like that can be. I would start checking electrical wires.

Re: 95 eclipse sputtering

k so i took my car for a ride today and now its revving up and down by itself and almost dieing. and when u turn off the car the computer(under the hood and near the battery) makes a humming noise like it running still, waited at least a minute still didnt turn off so i turned the key forward and back then it shut off. went back out ten minute later started it, quit reving up and down. Think maybe computer going out wat u think?
Also i started checking my wiring, started by cd player because it was stolen before and wires were cut . looks like my ground wires that connect to the wiring harness were grounded to a bolt right by the drivers side right foot (if u remove the side plastic panel)u can see a bolt with a washer (has one like it on other side to wasnt man made) so i unkooked it and my dash lights turn off . Any ideas?

Re: 95 eclipse sputtering

I would try and find someone that would let you borrow their ECU. I agree that you shouldn't buy one just to try it but that about the only thing left.

Re: 95 eclipse sputtering

If you do end up buying a different computer, I suggest ebay, they usually go for around $20-40 versus $200 for a new one and I haven't heard any bad stories about them yet. Make sure its for your year car though, 95's are specific to 95's, 96 to 96, and 97-99 are physically different than the 95 & 96
