My first car

hey wussup chevy heads. i just turned 18 on the 7th and for a graduation gift i convinced my folks to get me this 88 camaro for 1200 dollers from an old friend of mine who was trying to get rid of it. ive been obsessed with camaros since i dont even remember how long, always wanted one, and now im crapping my pants with excitement because i finally have one of my own. i plan on having it for a long time, i got a pretty good paying job and a career lined up and i want to completley re-do and personalize the car. i just sent it to a shop for a new paint job (black with green pinstripes > ) and when i get it back i need to get to work on the engine. the problem is ive always been a camaro fan but more a camaro fan than a car fan and i dont know too too much about engines. i meen i know basics but not much past. i was wondering if i could post some pics of it up here and some of u educated dudes could tell me what im working with and what looks like it needs replacement asap

Re: My first car

Welcome to the board! When the car comes back from the paint shop, be sure to post up some pics, it sounds like its gonna look nice. We can help you with builing up the engine, so long as you tell us which one it is first.

Re: My first car

everybody asks that question at some point. Phototbucket or something similar is the easiest way. Once its hosted, click on the "Insert Image" icon on the top of the posting window and paste the link in there. Hope that was helpful.

Re: My first car

okay. i have a real serious question. should i look into a vented z28 hood because the car is getting painted black? am i gonna end up with an overheated unhappy engine? i dont really want to put money into a new hood i like it the way it is but i dont know if this will turn into a serious issue i'l have to look into, can someone please give me some advice

The black paint won't affect the engine temp at all, so don't worry about that. You won't need a new hood.

Re: My first car

Ah, the 2.8 V6. It will make a decent first vehicle, but don't look to easily making more than 150 horsepower with it. My friend has a 95 LT1 for his first car, and I'm scared as shit to ride with him. He's already gotten a few high speed driving awards and been to defensive driving school.
