Who says you need a truck to tow a car?

Just picked up the race car today, snapped a couple pics of me pulling it with my 91 Honda Civic. Not once did the car sway, got it up to 60 and still had more to go, but didn't because the bottom of my fenders weren't bolted down.

Loud mouth at work said he could drive my car...he can get in, but can't drive it.

Re: Who says you need a truck to tow a car?

This is my car hauler, it will be pulling the car back and forth to the track every week(or when I go) when the car gets done. People can laugh all they want, but at $3+/gal, Ill take my little civic. Plus it pulls better than the Dodge Dakota I was using all last year. It was only a 4 cyl. so the civic makes more hp, almost as much torque(like 10 ft/lb shy) and both cars combined weigh as much as the truck...not to mention, at 55, the truck starts swaying.

Re: Who says you need a truck to tow a car?

And your point is what Zach? Cheaper on gas than a truck is isn't? And does the job better than the only truck I have available to me.

If you need it towed down, sure....and when did you get a RX7? FC?

I allways told a friend of mine to pull his bass boat with his 5G,he didn't think it had enough power. So now he pulls it with a full size Chevy Van that get 10 miles to a tank, these pics should change his mind.*two thumbs UP*

Re: Who says you need a truck to tow a car?

I'm actually thinking that I like this idea... I can't imagine that a middle weight car couldn't pull a feather on a rainy day... so why wouldn't a Civic pull a CRX w/ Dolly?

Not to mention the obvious gas mileage advantage, and the WoW factor when ppl see you pulling another car around town with your "rice burner" that "couldn't get out of it's own way" or something similar.

Re: Who says you need a truck to tow a car?

Keep in mind, this is still on the stock suspension...well the front is DA, but the rear is still EF struts.

With the dolly, the car doesn't drop at all when the car is on it. I was actually thinking about getting a little trailer, just big enough for the CRX. Would just have to make sure the axle is in the right spot to keep the weight off the tongue. If I ever get the time and money, I will get this dolly turned into a trailer for the CRX.
